Duffer's Septic Solutions is a top-rated, experienced, insured, and licensed septic tank installer in Missouri. We know septic tanks – how they work and how important a properly installed and performing system is to a household or business. We are committed to providing quality septic solutions to our customers. Installing a new septic system is a complex process that involves planning, permits, precise measurements, heavy machinery, excavation, drainage, and much more. Duffer's Septic Solutions has the expertise and know how to install a new septic tank system for your new home or business that last for many years with proper maintenance.  As for maintenance, we suggest having your septic tank system cleaned or pumped every 3 years and filters changed between 6 months and 2 years - which could be more or less depending on the household, tank size, and other factors.

We do not suggest DIY installation for a septic tank system – if the design, components, drain lines, and many other factors are off the system will not operate correctly and could cause major problems, so using a qualified and experienced tank installer is very important when installing a new septic system. At Duffer’s Septic Solutions, we make the septic tank installation process easy! When we install a new septic tank in Missouri, we take time to understand our customers’ needs and help select the best septic tank system for their needs. When thinking about septic tanks, there are a few factors that can affect cost such as location of the septic system, how much labor is needed to install the septic system (to dig and lay pipe, remove any obstacles in the way of installation, excavate the site for the tank, place the tank, run lines, add risers and filters, etc.), how much pipe is needed to support the system (pipe length), tank material, tank size (how much capacity in the tank – larger houses and households usually need larger tanks), and other factors.

If you are building a new home or business or need to replace a failing system, Duffer's Septic Solutions is a trusted and experienced septic tank installer and knows how to install and maintain well built and long lasting septic tank systems in Missouri. About Us

What is a septic tank?

A conventional septic tank is a water-tight container usually made of fiberglass, concrete, or polyethylene that is buried in the ground more than five feet away from your home. Septic tanks can last for up to 25 or 30 years with proper maintenance and cleaning. Septic tanks are usually round or rectangular in shape and are installed near homes and businesses that are not connected to city water and need a way to handle wastewater.  Other names for septic tanks include decentralized wastewater treatment systems, onsite wastewater treatment systems, cluster systems, package lants, private sewage disposal systems, and others.

A septic tank receives and partially treats wastewater from a home or business before it is dispersed into the surrounding soil. A septic tank has two main components – the tank and the drain field (soil absorption field).  All of the water you use runs out of your home into a drainage pipe into the septic tank. The septic tank processes organic matter and separates floatable matter and solids from wastewater. The liquid, effluent, is discharged from the septic tank into a series of pipes, chambers and units to slowly release the effluent into the soil.  This area is the drain field. Drain fields are shallow, excavations made in unsaturated soil where the water is dispersed. When soil is not filtering correctly, clogged, or the soil is too wet the drain field can flood the area and cause standing water and sewage flooding.

Making sure all components of your septic tank system are working correctly is important since each area works with the other to disperse and partially treat wastewater from your home or business.

We suggest cleaning or pumping your septic system every 3 years to reduce the risks of overflowing tanks and drain fields. If your system is more than 35% full in tank volume, solids need to be cleaned or pumped out. Alternative systems use pumps to help effluent go through sand, organic matter, or constructed wetlands and are designed to evaporate or disinfect before discharging.

If you need a new septic tank system for a new home or business in Missouri or are having septic issues, pooling water, sewage smells or other signs of a septic tank issue, Duffer's Septic Solutions is here to help!

How does a septic tank system work?

There is one drain line that feeds into the septic system. Sinks, showers, toilets, washing, machine, and everything with water drains through that line to the septic tank for partially treating and dispersing back into the soil. So let’s say, you flush the toilet. That water drains into the pipe and into the septic tank system. The wastewater settles through a natural process with time and bacteria and separates into sludge at the bottom from solids and forms scum at the top from oil and grease. Compartments and outlet prevent the sludge and scum from going into the drain field. Filters are used to prevent solid waste from entering the drain field, also known as the leach field. Septic tank filters are also called effluent filters or tank outlet filters, and they are located in the outlet pipe of the septic tanks (where water exits into the drain field. A clogged filter can cause septic system failures, so it is important to clean filters every 6 months to a couple of years depending on the household. The liquid wastewater (effluent) exits the tank into the drain field.
